Q&A On Ice with Back The Team mentor, alina müller

Back The Team took to the ice for a quick Q&A with our November mentor, Alina Müller.

At just 15 years old, Alina Müller was already playing on the world’s biggest stage. Today, she’s recognized as one of the most polished and driven talents in women’s hockey: anchoring the Swiss national team, rewriting record books at Northeastern, and now shining in the professional ranks. What separates Alina isn’t just her résumé, but the way she approaches the game: with a sharp hockey IQ and an uncompromising professionalism.

When we sat down with her, Alina opened up about the moments, habits, and lessons that define her career:

  • On the importance of team culture: “It makes it easy if the whole team is having fun, is confident. You can achieve only great things if the team is on the same page.”

  • Her favorite place to skate: outdoors. “It’s a dream to be on ice in the open air,” she shared — a reminder of the joy and simplicity at the heart of the sport.

  • Pregame ritual: no frills, just fuel from pasta and chicken. Lots of carbs to keep her energy up when it matters most.

  • Career highlights: multiple championships and Beanpot wins with Northeastern, but also the unexpected. At Worlds in 2021, an injury kept her out of the quarterfinal game in Calgary. Her team managed to secure a thrilling victory, and she calls celebrating with them from the sidelines “one of my biggest wins, and I wasn’t even on the ice.”

Through every chapter of European leagues, NCAA hockey, and now the PWHL, Alina has held onto the same philosophy: every game deserves the same intensity and intention. She treats both body and mind as non-negotiables, whether in practice or in a playoff showdown. That consistency is what makes her one of the best in the world.

Now, Alina is ready to bring those lessons directly to you. This November, she’ll mentor a small group of athletes through live Q&A sessions, daily mindset challenges, and a behind-the-scenes look at her Olympic journey. It’s a rare chance to learn from a player who not only knows what it takes to win, but who also embodies the joy, grit, and team-first mentality that make the game unforgettable.
