Back The Team Welcomes Para Snowboarder Zach Miller as Newest Mentor
Back The Team is excited to officially announce Zach Miller as our newest mentor—an extraordinary Paralympian whose story will inspire athletes nationwide.
At six months old, Zach was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Doctors warned his parents of severe limitations. Yet instead of being defined by what he couldn’t do, Zach grew up proving what he could. From the start, [his] “doctors noticed that I was outrageously competitive. When they tested reflexes—‘push against my hand’—I was gripping the table and giving it everything. They told my parents, ‘You’ve got to get this kid in more sports.’”
That drive led him to the mountains. By eight, he had found snowboarding, and from that moment, there was no turning back. A few years later, he watched athletes he trained alongside qualify for the first-ever Paralympic snowboarding event in Sochi. “That was it,” Zach recalls. “I knew: This is what I’m going to do. I want to snowboard for the rest of my life.”
Now, Zach competes for Team USA on the Toyota U.S. Para Snowboard Team, a 2022 Paralympian with six World Championship medals—including two golds. With his eyes set on the 2026 Games, he carries a story built on grit, belief, and the power of community, showing how the greatest obstacles can fuel the greatest journeys.
On October 21st, Zach will begin mentoring a new cohort of young athletes through Back The Team. For one month, he’ll share the stories and mindset strategies that carried him from a daunting diagnosis to the world stage. Spots are limited—don’t miss this chance to learn from a Paralympian who embodies resilience, courage, and the spirit of never giving up.
