FAQs

Back The Team is a platform where young athletes receive mentorship from Olympians and Paralympians through small, private cohorts. Each month includes live sessions, daily challenges, behind-the-scenes content, and access to a supportive athlete community, all designed to equip the next generation of young athletes with grit, confidence, and belief in their dreams.
-
Back The Team is for athletes ages 11–16 — a stage of life full of change, pressure, and self-doubt. That’s why every cohort is led by an Olympic mentor who’s lived through challenges at the highest level. It’s not just about improving in sport. It’s about shaping who they are becoming as young people — resilient, motivated, and ready to take on challenges in every arena of life.
-
Back The Team is designed to fit into even the busiest schedules. Daily challenges take 5 minutes or less, and weekly mentorship sessions run live for 30 minutes — with recordings available anytime. Because it’s built by athletes, for athletes, the program is meant to be exciting, flexible, and supplementary to your training.
-
The program is $150 per month. That includes all live sessions, daily challenges, private community access, and direct recognition from your Olympic mentor.
Additionally, by joining Back The Team you’re providing meaningful financial backing to your Olympic mentor. Most of your participation fee goes directly to the athlete leading your cohort, helping them continue their training and journey at the highest level.
-
Our 30-minute virtual mentorship sessions run weekly. Athletes hear stories, learn strategies, and have an opportunity to ask their Olympic or Paralympic mentor questions directly.
Can’t make it live? Recordings are available within our private community.

Back The Team was built by athletes, for athletes. Our curriculum combines insights from the Harvard Department of Athletics, the American Council on Exercise, and top mental performance coaches — plus the lived experience of Olympians who know firsthand what it takes to succeed. The result is programming that’s research-backed, athlete-tested, and inspiring to the core.
-
Absolutely. Every Back The Team cohort is a private, closed community where only registered athletes can participate. Sessions are led by trusted Olympic mentors, and all interactions are actively moderated by Back The Team to ensure the space stays positive, supportive, and age-appropriate. Parents can feel confident knowing their child is surrounded by peers and mentors in a community that’s structured, safe, and built for growth.
-
Every Olympic mentor brings lessons that transcend sport — confidence, resilience, discipline, and leadership — skills that matter whether your athlete plays on the field, in the pool, or on the slopes. And because Back The Team is always broadening our roster of Olympic and Paralympic mentors, join our community to be the first to know when a new cohort launches in your discipline.
-
Back The Team was founded by Amy Wotovich, a two-time Harvard Swim & Dive captain, NCAA qualifier, and former springboard diver.
She is joined by a dedicated team handling operations, athlete partnerships, and program design and most importantly, by a growing roster of Olympians and Paralympians across disciplines, each passionate about passing on their lessons to the next generation. Together, this team delivers authentic athlete-to-athlete mentorship and believes in the power of sport to inspire boldness, discipline, and fuel big dreams.
